Cadets from Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Army Cadet Force took part in the Eastern Regional Swimming Competition at RAF Cranwell on Saturday 6th October 2012. The team put in a great performance with some excellent individual results against strong teams from 6 other Counties, walking away with an impressive 4 sliver and 4 Gold Medals. The medals were presented by Colonel Chris Sharwood-Smith, Commandant of Beds and Hert's ACF. Speaking to the cadets after the event he said “ I am extremely proud of what you have achieved today, you all showed great determination and a will to succeed, more importantly showing great team spirit.”

As a result of their efforts, Cadet CSM Rochford and Cadet Rowland from Berkhampstead Detachment No 3 Company, have been selected to represent Eastern Region at the National Championships to be held at the prestigious Royal Military Accademy Sandhurst on the 13th October.

Cadet Shilpa from Watford Detachment No 3 Company said,” We may not have all won a medal but more importantly the whole team was presented with the County Colours, by the Commandant. Which we can wear with pride, on our uniforms. It was a great day out and a lot of fun, I can’t wait to get back in the pool now and practice for next years competition.” Cadet Shilpa swam in the Boys Junior Butterfly and Individual Medley, quiet an achievement, considering he only learnt to swim last year.

The focus is now on the National Finals, and the whole team wish those taking part the best of luck
