HITCHIN GRANDMOTHER TO GO OVER THE EDGE FOR POVERTY A GRANDMOTHER from Hitchin will be one of 40 people scaling new heights next month by abseiling down St Etheldreda’s Church in Old Hatfield to raise money for the international relief agency, Christian Aid. Zoe Railton (a grandmother in her 70s) is from Pirton. She has signed up to take part and will be abseiling 74 foot down the church. She says “I like a challenge! It feels good to do something practical. As someone from a privileged society, this is my way to support those less fortunate than myself by raising money for Christian Aid.” The Hertfordshire Sponsored Abseil, which takes place on Saturday 10 March, invites you to challenge yourself by abseiling down St Etheldreda’s Church in Old Hatfield to raise money to help some of the world’s poorest communities lift themselves out of poverty. From the top of the tower abseilers will be treated to amazing views over Hatfield House and the Hertfordshire countryside, before making their way down the 15th Century church, which is as old as the Doomsday Book! Anyone aged 11 or over can sign up to take on this challenge. To join Zoe and challenge yourself to go over the edge, you can register online at www.christianaid.org.uk/abseil or call 0207 523 2077. Registration is £15 per person and participants are asked to raise a minimum of £60 to support the fight to end poverty. ENDS Notes to Editors: 1.
