Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Army Cadet Force held their Annual Awards night recently at their headquarters in Hertford. The guest of honour was The High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, The Hon. Arabella Stuart- Smith who, at the invitation of the ACF Commandant, Colonel Chris Sharwood-Smith, was delighted to present a variety of awards to both adultsand cadets for outstanding service and achievement with the Army Cadet Force.
The awards included Duke of Edinburg Award’s, National Sports Award, Senior Cadet Instructors Award, BTEC and 4 Star Certificates. During the course of the evening there were also two special awards, one to Cadet Sgt Bronwyn Scholes ( Hoddesdon Det) who was appointed as the High Sheriffs Sword Bearer and another to Colour Sgt Craig Orwin ( Berkhampsted Det), who was awarded his Cadet Forces Medal for 12 years service as an adult instructor.
Speaking to the cadets following the presentation, the High Sheriff congratulated them on their achievements, which she could see had been hardwork as well as plenty of fun. She felt they had gained valuable experience and qualifications that will help them to develop as citizens and improve their employment prospects. The Cadets and their families were then invitedinto the mess for a reception in their honour.
